1.1 Verbal Roots and Tense Stems Root and Stem: Root = its most basic form λύω < *λυ I loose βάλλω < *βαλ -- I throw Stem = basic form of that verb in particular tense Present stem: βαλλ > βαλλω Future stem: βαλ > βαλῶ
