Easter traditions
Easter Egg Hunt On Easter Sunday, children try to find hidden eggs in the gardens or at home. The child who finds the most eggs wins a prize.
Egg rolling Children push an egg using a long-handled spoon.
The winner is the child whose egg rolls the furthest without breaking.
Egg Tossing / Egg throwing Eggs are thrown in the air and children have to catch them. They shouldn’t fall on the ground or they shouldn’t break if they do.
Egg tapping One holds a hard-boiled egg and taps others’ eggs in order to break them.
Hot cross buns
Hot cross buns Sweet buns with currants Traditionally eaten on Good Friday.
Simnel cake A fruitcake covered with a thick paste of almond. Also, 11 balls of almond paste are added to represent Christ’s 11 disciples ( Judas is excluded ).
