Champions or just Athletes? To practise and develop all four skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking). To enrich Ss’ vocabulary related to winter sports and sports in general. To practise gathering information about their favourite athlete. Raise awareness about the hardships athletes face. PROCEDURE: Warm – up: 1. The Teacher asks the students to say some winter sports they know. They would most probably mention sports like ski, snowboarding, hockey etc. and everything is written on the Bb in a mind map. 2. Pre – Viewing / While – Viewing: A slide show (PPT) is presented and the students identify certain winter sports and the Teacher writes them on the Bb. (Appendix A) A worksheet is provided with a variety of activities such as : have words and their meanings to be used to fill in the gaps as well as some more exercises for 1 st and 2 nd viewing. Production : The students are asked to: Gather information from the Internet and in no more than words write about ONE of the following.
