Pseudo-Apollodorus, Ἀ θην ᾶ παρεγένετο πρ ὸ ς Ἥ φαιστον, ὅ πλα κατασκευάσαι θέλουσα. ὁ δ ὲ ἐ γκαταλελειμμένος ὑ π ὸ Ἀ φροδίτης ε ἰ ς ἐ πιθυμίαν ὤ λισθε τ ῆ ς Ἀ θην ᾶ ς, κα ὶ διώκειν α ὐ τ ὴ ν ἤ ρξατο· ἡ δ ὲ ἔ φευγεν. ὡ ς δ ὲ ἐ γγ ὺ ς α ὐ τ ῆ ς ἐ γένετο πολλ ῇ ἀ νάγκ ῃ ( ἦ ν γ ὰ ρ χωλός), ἐ πειρ ᾶ το συνελθε ῖ ν. ἡ δ ὲ ὡ ς σώφρων κα ὶ παρθένος ο ὖ σα ο ὐ κ ἠ νέσχετο· ὁ δ ὲ ἀ πεσπέρμηνεν ε ἰ ς τ ὸ σκέλος τ ῆ ς θε ᾶ ς. ἐ κείνη δ ὲ μυσαχθε ῖ σα ἐ ρί ῳ ἀ πομάξασα τ ὸ ν γόνον ε ἰ ς γ ῆ ν ἔ ρριψε. φευγούσης δ ὲ α ὐ τ ῆ ς κα ὶ τ ῆ ς γον ῆ ς ε ἰ ς γ ῆ ν πεσούσης Ἐ ριχθόνιος γίνεται· Athena came to Hephaistos wishing for him to fashion arms. But he, having been rejected by Aphrodite, began to desire Athena and started to pursue her, but she fled. When he came near to her with a great deal of distress (for he was lame) he attempted to have sex with her, but she, being prudent and a parthenos would not bear him up, and he ejaculated onto the leg of the goddess. Being disgusted, with wool she wiped off the semen, and threw it upon the earth; and as she fled the semen fell on the ground, Erichthonios was born (trans. S. Deacy).

Hephaistos was in love with Athena and wished to have intercourse with her, but she turned away from him and preferring her virginity, hid from him in some place in Attica, which they say was called ‘Hephaisteion’ after him. He expected to conquer her and attacked her, and in turn received a heavy blow from her spear, and he released his desire, and the semen fell on the earth (trans. S. Deacy).
