In our school In our school there is a head teacher, 2 deputy head teachers, 6 full time teachers and 2 visiting teachers. We have also 3 special needs teachers (they are visiting teachers).
School and teachers The school is open five days each week. The school day starts at 7:45 and finishes at 1:05. The teachers teach 25-29 periods each week according to how many years they work. The deputy head teacher teaches for 23 periods and the head teacher for 11. Each teaching period lasts 40 minutes. Each day there are 7 teaching periods. Additionally each teacher dedicates a period each week for conferencing with the parents and another period for staff conference. Class teachers have additionally one or two periods off.

School year and vacations The school year in Cyprus starts the first Monday of September and finishes the Friday before the last Friday of June. There are two weeks vacations at Christmas and two weeks vacations at Easter. Additionally there are 11 more days of vacations due to ethnic and religious celebrations.

Meals in school Kids bring their sandwich (which they eat during breaks) from home. They can also buy something to eat from the school canteen (sandwich, juice, water, pastry, etc.). During this year kids who come from low income families get free sandwich and juice from the school (in our school 25 children out of 120).
Evaluation in schools In the elementary level there are no external exams. Students are evaluated through tests, which are prepared by their teachers or are ready in the books, at the end of each unit. Usually evaluation is descriptive. There are no grades in the elementary level.
Zone of Educational Priority Our school is part of the Zone of Educational Priority. The school is given extra funding for the development of different programmes during the morning and in the afternoons (study groups, computers, theatre, dancing, gymnastics, etc.)
