Πως έλεγαν το μάζεμα των ελιών που έκαναν οι φτωχοί αφού τέλειωνε το λιομάζωμα;   Ραντολόι λεγόταν !Η γιαγιά μου τα παλιά χρόνια πήγαινε στο ραντολόι και μάζευε τις ελιές που είχαν μείνει πάνω στα δέντρα μετά το λιομάζωμα! Επίσης μάζευε και τις ελιές που είχαν πέσει κάτω , τις λεγόμενες χαμολιές . Αυτές τις πήγαιναν και τις πουλούσαν στο μπακάλη και τους έδινε χρήματα . Με τα χρήματα αυτά κάλυπταν κάποιες ανάγκες τους όπως τρόφιμα , ρούχα κ.α! How did they call the gathering of olives left on οlive trees , that poor people did after normal olive harvest? It was called “radoloi” !My grandmother used to go for “radoloi” and picked the olives which were left on the trees after the olive harvest.They also used to pick up the olives which had fallen under the trees ,which were called “hamolies”. They sold them to the grocer and with that money they could cover some of their basic needs like food , clothes etc.

(Α recipe based on olive oil) Ladokouloura Ingredients 2 glasses of olive oil 2 glasses of sugar 1 glass of orange juice 1 tsp of soda 2 tsp of baking powder 1 cup of brandy Sesame About 800 gr flour   Instructions In a small bowl put the sugar with the olive oil and mix them.Into a small bowl put the orange juice,the bicard,the brandy and the baking powder . Mix them all together and put them into the bowl. Put the flour in and after divide the dough into rolls. Spread an oil paper in the baking pan, if you want. Cast some sesame seeds on the ladokouloura and bake them in fan heater at 180 degrees for 20 minutes.

Λαδοκούλουρα Υλικά 2 ποτήρια ελαιόλαδο 2 ποτήρια ζάχαρη 1 ποτήρια φρέσκο σκυμμένο χυμό πορτοκάλι 1 κουταλάκι του γλυκού σόδα 1 φακελάκι μπεικιν παουντερ 1 φλυτζάνι κονιάκ Σουσάμι Περίπου 800 γρ. Αλεύρι   Εκτέλεση Σε μια μικρή λεκάνη βάζουμε τη ζάχαρη με το λάδι και τα ανακατεύουμε. Σε ένα μπολ βάζουμε το χυμό, τη σόδα, το κονιάκ και το μπεικιν παουντερ. Τα ανακατεύουμε και τα ρίχνουμε στη λεκάνη. Ριχνουμε το αλεύρι και πλάθουμε τη ζύμη σε κουλουράκια. Απλώνουμε στο ταψί ένα κομμάτι λαδόκολλα, αν θέλουμε. Ρίχνουμε σουσάμι στα λαδοκούλουρα και τα ψήνουμε στο αερόθερμο στουε 180 βαθμούς για 20 λεπτά

Olive oil gas been an integral part of Greek everyday life from antiquity up to today. Mediterranean diet is mostly based on virgin olive oil ,too.

Olive oil is also used to make soap, cosmetics for hair and body and even medicine.

Olive wood may be relatively expensive because of its slow growth but as it is very hard it is used to make kitchen utensils, carved wooden bowls, cutting boards, furniture or decorative items.
