Facts and figures AUEB was founded in 1920 as the Athens School of Commercial Studies. Is the third oldest University in Greece and the oldest in the fields of Economics and Business Administration. One central Library founded in 1920, in Athens, the oldest academic economic library in Greece. Aims to meet the teaching, learning and research needs of AUEB academic community in the fields of Economics, International and European Economic Studies, Business Administration, Marketing and Communication, Management Science and Technology, Accounting and Finance, Informatics and Statistics. Aims to be an integrated centre of research and scientific information for the whole University: undergraduate and postgraduate students, PhD and postdoc students, academic staff, researchers, administrative staff, visitors. Open to the wider academic community in Greece and to all citizens according to Greek law 3404/2005.

Courses to specific groups (mainly to undergraduate students) Courses with applied exercises Main target : students to be familiar with the library’s sources (printed and electronic) and to get a hint of searching techniques There are no courses for PhD students so far We are planning to organize and implement an integrated schema for all students

IFLA The author(s) and copyright holder(s) grant(s) to all users a free, irrevocable, world-wide, perpetual (for the lifetime of the applicable copyright) right of access to, and a licence to copy, use, distribute, perform and display the work publicly and to make and distribute derivative works in any digital medium for any reasonable purpose, subject to proper attribution of authorship, as well as the right to make small numbers of printed copies for their personal use. Budapest Open Access Initiative By "open access" to this [research] literature, we mean its free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself. The only constraint on reproduction and distribution and the only role for copyright in this domain should be to give authors control over the integrity of their work and the right to be properly acknowledged and cited.

Open access (OA) HEALlink – declaration OA is a key tool for promoting scientific research, improving the quality of research and the free dissemination of knowledge in society, 85% of the world’s scholarly outputs are still locked behind paywalls, HEALink aims to transform a majority of todays scholarly journals from subscription to OA publishing in accordance with community-specific publication preferences. At the same time, we continue to support new and improved forms of OA publishing Invites all parties involved in scholarly publishing, in particular unive rsities, research institutions, funders, libraries, and publishers to collaborate on a swift and efficient transition for the benefit of scholarship and society at large. As a first step, urges Institutions to establish Open Access policies and Institution professors/researchers to submit their post-print scientific papers to academic depositories immediately after approval for their publication (Green route to OA) participates in international initiatives : Max Planck OA2020 ( and the European Project OpenAIRE (https: //

Greek universities offer a number of options apart from the institutional repositories Main target to serve as open access centers offering valid and reliable information Options and solutions: open access platforms including journals and initiatives driven and issued by the universities (for instance BioMed Central Springer by university of Patras) special digitized collections (old greek manuscripts, documents, etc) participation in european initiatives (Horizon 2020, Open Access Pilot in FP7, etc)
