2 A definition of Biotechnology

8 Process biotechnology techniques :
Fermentation using bioreactors, bioprocessing, bioleaching, biopulping, biobleaching, biodesulphurisation, bioremediation, biofiltration and phytoremediation. A bioprocess is a specific process that uses complete living cells or their components (e.g., bacteria, enzymes, chloroplasts) to obtain desired products. Bioleaching is the extraction of metals from their ores through the use of living organisms. Bioremediation is a waste management technique that involves the use of organisms to remove or neutralize pollutants from a contaminated site. Biofiltration is a pollution control technique using living material to capture and biologically degrade pollutants.
