Στόχοι του σεμιναρίου “Problem Solving and Decision Making” ήταν:
Να αποκτήσουν οι συμμετέχοντες γνώσεις και δεξιότητες στη διαχείριση των συγκρούσεων Να ενισχύσουν το δυναμικό και την κατανόηση τους για τις συγκρούσεις, την περιφρόνηση και την αρνητικότητα στο χώρο εργασίας Να μάθουν αποτελεσματικούς τρόπους εμπλοκής με τους άλλους και την αντιμετώπιση των ανεπίλυτων ζητημάτων Να μπορούν με αυτοδυναμία και αυτοπεποίθηση να αντιμετωπίζουν συγκρούσεις και κρίσεις Να αναπτύξουν δεξιότητες επικοινωνίας και τη δημιουργικότητά τους και να συζητήσουν πώς μπορούν να χρησιμοποιηθούν σε ένα εκπαιδευτικό πλαίσιο Να βοηθήσουν τους εκπαιδευτικούς να κατανοήσουν τις δικές τους ιδιότητες, τα ταλέντα, τις διαφορές και πώς μπορούν να τα χρησιμοποιήσουν στην εκπαίδευση

There are basic steps in solving a problem: Problems come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, so there are tools to help us find solutions according to each problem.

COMMUNITY CAPACITY BUILDING
According to the Western Australian Department for Community Development (2006) Community capacity building is about promoting the ‘capacity’ of local communities to develop, implement and sustain their own solutions to problems in a way that helps them shape and exercise control over their physical, social, economic and cultural environments.

Community capacity building focuses on:
Building the skills and confidence of individuals and groups Enhancing community decision making and problem solving processes Creating a common vision for the future Implementing practical strategies for creating change It depends on a series of interrelated circles

The name says it: Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat. A SWOT analysis guides you to identify the positives and negatives inside your organization (S-W) and outside of it, in the external environment (O-T). Developing a full awareness of your situation can help with both strategic planning and decision-making.

The SWOT method (which is sometimes called TOWS) was originally developed for business and industry, but it is equally useful in the work of community health and development, education, and even personal growth. SWOT is not the only assessment technique you can use, but is one with a long track record of effectiveness.
